History of the breed
Dachshunds were already displayed on the walls of temples in ancient
Egypt. Come from a breed short legged dogs. The first mention of these
dogs, who used to work underground, coming from fifth to ninth century
AD, German literature, the name "Dachshund" appeared in 1582. These
dogs were bred so that they are slower, hunters can follow them and to
easily penetrate into badger and fox burrows. The long-haired Dachshund
variant there is a presumption that their formation involved some breeds of
Spaniards. Thus arose admixture of Spanish blood to blood Smooth
Dachshund. Previously were used only as a hunting dog, today extended
the breed as a pet, but are still in use and hunting.
